Description

If you want to enjoy a non technical climb in an Andean peak, Mount Penitentes is the perfect option for you.

Near the road that leads you to the famous Puente del Inca (“Inca’s Bridge” in English) is Mount Penitentes. A perfect opportunity to practice a climb with the best view of Mount Aconcagua and the Tupungato Volcano.

Mount Penitentes is 4.350 meters high and it’s a great point of The Andes Mountain Range. If you want to know more details about the trip, please find the itinerary below, at the end of this description.

Take into account that although no previous climbing experience is necessary, you have to be well trained. You must have good physical fit because the average hiking time is 6–8 hour per day.

This guided adventure is available all year round. So, you can contact me whenever you want to plan together your climb to Mount Penitentes. It will be a pleasure for me to guide you up there.

Itinerary

Day 1: MEETING POINT

We meet in Mendoza City. Before leaving we’ll check the equipment and rent some extra one if you don’t have it.

Day 2: QUEBRADA DE VARGAS

We drive to Penitentes mountain hut at 2.799 meters of height. Then we’ll hike to the base camp across Quebrada de Vargas. We’ll spend the night there.

Day 3: SUMMIT DAY

On the third we’ll try to summit Mount Penitentes. From there, we’ll enjoy a perfect view. Then, we return to the campsite.

Day 4: FINAL POINT

Last day of the expedition. We’ll return to Penitentes Village in order to be transferred back to Mendoza capital.
