At 8:00 am, we welcome you to Litochoro and transport you to the Gortsia area, which is the starting point of our trip. We ascend through a beautiful, dense forest of pine, beech, and fir trees, reaching the Petrostrouga refuge at 2000 meters. We take a quick break to eat and refuel while also taking in the breathtaking view from the balcony. We keep climbing towards Skourta, following a stunning ascent across the Laimos ridgeline with amazing views in all directions, we reach the Muses Plateau. Here, we call it a day and retire to a cozy refuge for the evening. With a view of the Throne of Zeus and the magnificent Greek summer night sky, we have a delicious dinner.
We have breakfast before setting out early in the morning, passing close to the magnificent Throne of Zeus as we leave the Zonaria area. Today's itinerary calls for a trip to the 2911-meter Skolio mountain. The second-highest peak on Mount Olympus, Skolio, is just 8 meters below Mytikas' summit. The views are really breathtaking from the top. Skolio can only be reached by foot. If you've scheduled a different try at the top of Mytikas, you'll need to scramble up the gully for 300 meters at an elevation of 200 meters. When using climbing safety equipment, such as a helmet, harness, and rope, you will follow our experienced guides' recommendations. Your safety is our top priority, thus we won't attempt the summit if there are any snow-covered, wet, or slippery slopes leading to Mytikas or if there is simply too much tourist traffic. After arriving in Skolio or Mytika, relaxing and taking in the scenery, we begin our descent toward Refuge around noon. We pause here at 2100 meters above sea level to recover and eat a quick lunch. From there, we continue to descend until we reach the base at 1,000m, where our journey ends in the late afternoon.

Peter
Vagelis was a great friendly guide tailoring the hike to our higher ability. He also provided us with loads of information about the local peaks/walks, history and hiking culture. He kept us hydrated and safe on the mountain. Hiking Greece was quick to respond to emails and was very professional. They could do with providing a bit more information on what to take and route without having to be promoted. Highly recommend.
