Mount Ararat is the highest mountain in Turkey, and also a biblical landmark, where Noah rested his ark after the universal flood. On this 1-week ascent, we will explore and climb this mythical and exuberant peak.
At 5137m, Ararat stands high, close to the border with Armenia and Iran. On this trip, we will set off from Istambul to southeast Turkey, where our trek will begin once we get to the town of Eli. This will allow us also to get a taste of the local culture and landscapes on the way as well.
Once we begin our ascent, we will spend around 5 hours climbing each day, and in the evenings, we will enjoy a full camp experience, that will allow us to rest for the next day's climb. On summit day, we will begin at 4.30 and enjoy a long day up to the top and back. You can find a detailed itinerary below.
Keep in mind that this is an intermediate ascent that requires you to be fit. You will of course count on the help and expertise of a certified guide at all times.

Arrival in Istanbul and connecting flight to Igdir, a city located in the southeast of Turkey. We will drive for 1 hour to Doğubayazıt (located at an altitude of 1800m). On the way, we will catch sight of the first views of Mt. Ararat. We will spend the night in a 2-3 star hotel.
40 km transfer from Doğubayazıt to the village of Eli at 2200m altitude. From there we will start our trek to Camp 1 (3300m, 4-5 h). We will spend the night in tents and have dinner.
To increase our chances of reaching the summit, we will reserve this day just in case.
Morning departure to Camp 2 at 4200 m (4 h). We rest in the afternoon and prepare for the next day's ascent to the summit. Then, we will have dinner.
At about 04.30 a.m., we will start our ascent to the summit of Mt. Ararat (5137 m). Crampons will be necessary to reach the summit, and once we do, we will enjoy incredible views from the top of Ararat. As we descend to Camp 2, we will be served tea and hot soup. After a short rest, we will pack up our tents and return to Camp 1, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Descent from Camp 1 to the meeting point with our transport. We will say goodbye to Mt. Ararat and return to Doğubayazıt village. After some rest at the hotel, we will visit the village in the afternoon. Accommodation will be in double rooms and dinner on your own.
After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport in the city of Igdir to take the flight to Spain via Istanbul. We arrive and that's when the trip ends.

Since I was a kid I travelled around the hills and peaks of Sierra Nevada range in south Spain, going up and down the valleys that made me in love with the mountains world.
Steadily, I discovered other ranges of the Iberic peninsula such as the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa, and then I travelled to the peruvian Andes, the Amazonas jungle, the Moroccan Atlas...
Thanks to these experiences and two years of studying to become a professional mountain guide, I started a new project called Nevalia mountain guides.
I hope I can help you to make true your mountain dreams!

Before the hike, the guide was very professional, taking the initiative to stay in touch, responding quickly, and being very flexible. Shortly before the hike, we received a message that the guide had been changed. The new guide also reached out proactively and communicated very well. During the hike, the guide was very helpful, caring, friendly, and considerate. I had two children with me (ages 11 and 9), for whom this was their first mountain hike. The guide adjusted to their pace, making the hike truly enjoyable. Throughout the hike, we saw many breathtaking views and mountain goats, experiencing both challenging ascents and easier descents. My family was extremely satisfied with the hike!

The trip was great. Unfortunately, due to very bad weather conditions, we were not able to climb to the top of the Toubkal

Our guide was actually Ruben. Alejandro was sick. Ruben was just great. Definitely 5 stars.

Our guide was changed on us last minute. Before the hike, I had missed the messages from the guide because the notifications went to a weird place in my email inbox. Because we messaged him late, he cancelled on us. I was worried we wouldn't be able to go on the hike at all. Luckily, we ended up going with a different guide, Victoria, who was lovely.
