Description

The mythical Monte Rosa massif is located between Valais, in Switzerland, and Aosta Valley and Piedmont, in Italy. Join me for this fantastic ski mountaineering program starting from Zermatt, the Swiss ski Mecca.

Within the massif there are many summits that are perfect (and a good challenge!) for ski mountaineers. This includes of course Dufourspitze, the highest peak in Switzerland, rising to 4634 meters. But it is only one of the many peaks in our list during the program. We will also ascend Allalinhorn, Strahlhorn, Alphubel, Breithorn, and Castor or Pollux. So you can see that it is an extremely complete trip!

The area includes prime skiing terrain. The relief includes high glaciers and peak ascents. To get through them, you need to have some prior mountaineering skills. This trip is not for beginners! Ask me if you have doubts about the level, but I recommend intermediate to advanced experience.

Zermatt is a great starting point for this program, as the mentioned peaks are not far from the resort and from Saas Fee.

We will leave for 9 days, and ski in total 7 of them. The ideal period runs from mid-April to mid-May.

Keep in mind that the weather is very changing, and the temperature can vary a lot, even within one day. Therefore, plan your clothing equipment accordingly!

Are you interested in this epic ski mountaineering program? Then please send me a request, I would love to be your guide! And for more options in Switzerland, check my ski mountaineering trip in the Bernese Alps.
