Description

If you are an experienced mountaineer and you are looking for a challenging climbing adventure, this trip is for you!

Standing at 4,808 meters, Mont Blanc is the highest peak in the Alps and in the whole of western Europe. It lies within the Graian Alps sub-range, between the Aosta Valley in Italy and the Haute-Savoie region in France. It is currently being proposed as a potential UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its unique landscape and its cultural significance, given it is considered the origin and symbol of modern mountaineering.

Among the several trails to Mont Blanc, we will take the Goûter route. While this is not a technical route, it involves several challenging sections, including glaciated terrain to be climbed with crampons, harnesses and ropes.

We will meet at the Les Houches railway station (1,010m), located in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc French commune, and take a tramway to Le Nid d’Aigle station (2,372m), our trip’s starting point. We will hike for about 5 hours, crossing the Goûter couloir, the most technical part of the route, up to the Goûter mountain refuge (3,817m). Early on our second day, we will begin our over 1,000-meter ascent to the Mont Blanc summit. At the top, we will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic views of the major snow-covered mountains and rocky ridges in the Alps.

I will take a maximum of 2 people on this tour. They are required to have previous climbing experience and a very good fitness level, so as to be able to walk uphill for 5 to 6 hours per day. Previous acclimatization is also a must.

If you are looking for some training before climbing Mont Blanc, I highly recommend the Aiguille du Tour ascent in 2 days.
