The Huayhuash Range, which forms part of the Peruvian Andes, is one of the county’s most spectacular trekking destinations. Its tall, snow-capped peaks and colorful landscapes draw many adventurers.
This moderately difficult trek is the perfect opportunity to discover the range’s most impressive mountains and pristine glacial lakes in just four days.
Some of the mountains we’ll discover on our journey are Yerupaja (6,617 m), the third highest peak in Peru, Rasac (6,017 m), Jirishanca (6,094 m), Ninashanca (5,607 m), Rondoy (5,870 m) and Siula Grande (6,344 m). Siula Grande was made famous by mountaineer Joe Simpson’s award-winning book, Touching the Void, which describes his nearly fatal climb of the mountain.
Our nights will be spent camping. Eating breakfast with a breathtaking views of the mountains is an unbeatable way to start the day.

Early departure from Huaraz to Chiquian and Llamac, where we’ll have breakfast. Then we’ll go to Pocpa and Matacancha, where the trek begins at the Rondoy gorge. We’ll go over the Sambuya pass (4,740 m) and then descend to the Jahuacocha lagoon (4,050 m). Time walking: 6 hours. Time in bus: 4 hours. Camping in Jahuacocha (4,050 m).
Jahuacocha – Paso Llaucha (4,850 m) – Huacrish (4,580 m). Time walking: 6 hours. Camping in Huacrish.
Huacrish – Tsacra – Jahuacocha (4,050 m). Time walking: 6 hours. Camping in Jahuacocha.
Five hour walk from Jahuacocha to Llamac (3,3oo m), where we’ll take transport back to Huaraz.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
