Description

The Maira Valley is a wonderful place, and absolutely one of the best ones for splitboarding. Let me guide you across this stunning valley in the Piedmont, Italy. And enjoy 6 days of incredible snow!

The Maira Valley lies in the Piedmont. It is located in the province of Cuneo, in the North West of Italy, and west to the border with France. And it offers endless splitboarding options, for all type of snowboarders.

If you are an intermediate snowboarder, it offers charming and calm areas where you can improve on your skills. But it also has extreme descents for the advanced snowboarders, with altitudes that range from 1,200 to 1,300 meters.

We’ll enjoy the best powder snow, in areas that remain relatively wild. Thus, we’ll stay away from the crowds and the designated spots from the ski resorts. What’s more, the Maira Valley has a very intriguing history. Because of the migration that came in the post-war years, many of the villages in these mountains, are almost completely abandoned. Hence, there is a unique solitude that we’ll experience while venturing across them.

Additionally, the sceneries we’ll get are hypnotizing. There are magnificent peaks, enchanting woods and all the snow we could ask for here!

Moreover, we’ll venture into wild areas, but always close enough to reach the ski resorts and other facilities. A short drive will take us back into civilization, where we’ll enjoy the best italian cuisine and delicious wines.

To join this trip, you need to be in good physical condition, and be able to hike up on snow for 3 to 5 hours daily. Also, you are required to have previous splitboarding experience.

If you have previous experience and wish to join this program, send me a request. I promise it will be a trip you won’t be able to forget!

Mountain Guide

I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide and I'm passionated about nature. I was born in 1977 and before entering in the mountain life, I worked as a teacher in Borg Lienz.

I started training as a canyoning guide 15 years ago. Since 2009, I have also trained with canyoning leaders in Carinthia. Additionally, I have been on the road as a mountain and ski instructor. During the summers, I have guided a lot in Switzerland, where I took my guests to many mountains over 4000 meters high. My “motto” in the mountains and in life has always been the same: “Never stop exploring”

I work now for Carnicoalpin where our main objective is leading and accompanying you on steep mountains and great ski slopes with a particular focus set on safety.

For more information, please feel free to contact me. We can discuss about your wishes and the different options I offer. I will be really happy to be your guide and share a great moment with you!

Tobias and his colleague Alex were very knowledgeable and professional on all aspects of this amazing experience.

Conan

Had an absolutely amazing experience with Tobias, from the training day to summiting the Matterhorn. Couldn’t ask for a better guide 10/10

John

Tobias knows the Matterhorn and the surrounding area extremely well. He will go at a level that is comfortable for you and help you reach whatever mountaineering goal you have. Another reviewer said Tobias knows every step on the Matterhorn - and this is absolutely true. He's one of the BEST around.

Roberto

i guess it was a little our fault for not investigating the fact that due to weather its not always possible to climb the matterhorn, but we where notice 1 week before that the weather was not good, so it was very complicated to organize something interesting as second option.
