Description

Would you like to enjoy a unique rock climbing experience in the beautiful mountains of Austria? Then come with us on this adventure in the Karwendel mountains and spend one day climbing in the Lamsenspitze, near the stunning Lake Achensee.

The Karwendel mountains belong to the Northern Limestone Alps in the state of Tyrol, Austria. In this area, we’ll find Lake Achensee, the largest lake in the state and a wonderful destination for different types of activities. Due to its wide variety of options and classic routes, Achensee surroundings are a very popular place for rock climbing.

At an altitude of 2,508 meters above sea level, the Lamsenspitze is part of the Karwendel and where our trip will take place. The northeast edge of the Lamsenspitze is a real Karwendel classic. The route runs along the almost 400m ridge with a maximum difficulty level of grade IV. On this 1-day program, we’ll go through the northeast ridge of the mountain, a true climbing heaven, and we will have a wonderful time on the rocks combined with breathtaking views.

We will meet at the Gramaialm car park, and from there the hiking trail leads to the Lamsenjoch Hut. During the approach, our route, the northeast edge, is right in front of our eyes. The entrance is not far from the Lamsenjoch Hut. The approach takes about 2 hours. Now it starts: we climb up the edge to the forepeak via beautiful and easy climbing passages. During the whole tour there are great views of the Karwendel valleys, the Rofan and even the Zillertal. At the end, we go over an easy ridge in just a few meters to the summit and you can count yourself lucky to have mastered an Alpine classic.

Descent via the normal route back to the Lamsenjochhütte and the starting point.

As for the requirements, consider that this program has an intermediate level of difficulty, so it’s mandatory to have Sure-footedness, head for heights, and some prior rock climbing experience (top rope climbing at least grade IV). And it's important to be physically fit, with enough condition for a day tour with 1300 m ascent and descent.

Would you like to take part of this experience? Then all you have to do is send the request and book your place. We’ll be glad to have you on this rock climbing adventure in Austria.

You can also take a look at this rock climbing trip in the Zillertal, also in Tyrol. Check it out!

Mountain Guide

I grew up in Tyrol (Austria), fascinated by the mountains at a very young age. This led me to discover the world of climbing at the age of 10. I never would have imagined that I would become so enthralled by it.

I became a full certified IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain and Ski Guide at the age of 22. Since summer 2016 I have had the privilege of introducing you to the wonderful world of mountains.

Whether it's on my home mountains in Tyrol, the 4,000-meter peaks of the Alps, or in the mountains of the Himalayas, I will be happy to guide you!

What people are saying about Christoph

Géraldine

Christoph was not our guide on the route, he couldn't make it last minute but one of his colleague from the bergskifuehrer made it. Despite this little last-minute stress, the experience was great. Emanuel our guide was excellent. He was giving very good advice on how to make the best way, we felt very safe and had a lot of fun as well.

Kira

Everything was perfect. Christoph gauged our abilities and selected accordingly, and we had 2 lovely days at the crag, seeing different parts of the beautiful Zillertal region. 100% would recommend to others and come back again!!

Nataliia

It was perfect, great emotions from via ferrata, great guide's job, certainly, we will come back and try other routes. Christoph, you are the best! Thank you for this experience!

Abigail

Chris was an excellent guide. Great location in the shade for two climbing of differing ability to both gave a great day sport climbing/lead climbing. Thanks all, Carl

Mikey

Chris was excellent to have as our guide. He was very understanding in the moments we struggled on the snow and the rock climbing and constantly encouraged us. We felt very safe knowing he was with us and shared a lot about the mountains and the wildlife. Highly recommend
