Description

Would you like to go on a ski tour in the heart of the impressive Canadian Rockies? Join me for one or more days and enjoy amazing backcountry skiing possibilities around the Lake Louise area.

Lake Louise is a small village and famous ski resort located in Banff National Park, in the Alberta province, in western Canada. It is just 57 kilometres west of the city of Banff.

The area around Lake Louise is well known for its spectacular natural beauty and it is a true paradise for ski tourers. You will be amazed by its incredible glaciated and alpine ski touring possibilities. There are also some possible ski mountaineering ascents in this area.

Please note this is an intermediate to advanced ski touring programme. Our backcountry touring days are quite strenuous and long, but absolutely rewarding! Every day we ski between 1200 and 1800 meters on average.

In order to join these tours, you need to have previous backcountry ski touring experience, and at least intermediate downhill skills are required. We can discuss your experience and background and find the tour that best suits you.

These are some Canadian Rockies classic day tours, located in Banff and Yoho National Parks:

  • Lake Louise area: Mount Hector, Fairview Mountain, Divide creek, Suprise Pass and Popes Shoulder.

  • Bow Summit area: Mosquito creek area, Observation Mountain, Mount Jimmy Simpson, Cirque Peak, Crowfoot Mountain and Dolomite Pass.

  • Kootenay parkway area: The Burn and Storm Mountain.

  • Yoho park & Field area: Mount Ogden, Mount Field and Cathedral Mountain.

We will meet at a predetermined location for a final gear check the evening before or the same morning of our tour, at 7:30 am. We will go over avalanche and weather conditions and sign waivers and then we will be ready for our adventure.

We will drive to our touring destination and enjoy a full day tour in the mountains. We will have lunch there and one hour before sunset we return to relax and celebrate, and get some rest for another great tour the next day!

So if you want to be part of this great ski touring adventures in the Canadian Rockies, just send me a request. Book your trip and get ready for amazing ski touring days around the Lake Louise area. You can also have a look at other ski tours that I guide, in Rogers Pass and around Nelson and Rossland in British Columbia.
