La Grande Fistoire, 1-day Via ferrata near Sisteron

Try your hand at via ferrata on one of the most beautiful locations in France on a guided day program just outside of Sisteron! This is a great way for beginners to learn the ropes of an exciting new sport, with an additional option for more experienced climbers to combine routes for an exhilarating challenge!

Located in Le Caire about twenty minutes north of Sisteron, La Grande Fistoire has made a name for itself as one of the most exciting and satisfying via ferratas in all of France. Complete with bridges, corners, and traverses, the climbing here includes a 250-meter cliff with astounding views of the surrounding countryside. It is equal parts thrilling and engaging, so you can learn fantastic techniques while testing your mettle on fun climbs.

Your program is designed to give you a full day in this environment. Starting early in the morning, we will meet to go over our selected itinerary for the day and head onto the route. The via ferrata can be taken in sections, so for those who need more guidance, I am happy to help walk you through this phenomenal route.

Your climb includes the longest footbridge on a via ferrata in Europe (60 meters), a 30-plus meter monkey bridge, “The Bombu” and the “Great Wall,” and even ziplines. We can include some of these features into your program to keep you satisfied all the way up to the top. Once you reach the pinnacle of the climb, admire the surrounding landscape of Southeastern France and its unique geology and topography.

The Short Route will take us roughly two hours to complete, while more ambitious climbers can take the three-hour Long Route. You can expect to face Level 2 to Level 4 Climbing here, with a difficulty grade of D+. The well-marked routes and clear steps and rungs make even a safe and fun adventure.
