Kleinwalsertal 2-day avalanche rescue course

This is a course of only two days that takes place in Kleinwalsertal, Austria, during which I will teach you the basics of ski touring and avalanche rescue.

The program is not only aimed at beginner skiers but also all mountaineers aware of the risks involved in the mountains who want to refresh their current knowledge. It is a good way to start the winter season well prepared!

During this 2-day course you will learn the following concepts:

• Interpretation of an avalanche situation and its scale of danger

• Basics of avalanche risk management

• Identification of climatic factors

• Evaluation of the slopes, their exposure and risks

• Rescue exercises with a partner

• Snow type evaluation

• Decision strategies

• Use of different mountain devices

• Safe ski tour planning

The mountains of this Austrian region are ideal to put into practice all the knowledge acquired in the course. We will spend the night in a hotel in Kleinwalsertal so we can go back to the mountains the next day and keep learning.

Participants must be physically prepared to climb up to 3 hours and walk for approximately 5 hours each day. Sometimes we may need to use climbing skins. Although this course has a fixed departing date, I also can organize courses on the date you wish.
