Located about 2 hours drive west and southwest of Colorado Springs and Denver respectively, this region is full of backcountry skiing options and other exciting attractions.

Stunning pristine nature, star filled skies, hot springs and local town charm make Buena Vista, or BV as the locals call it, a wonderful mountain location!

Sitting at the base of the Sawatch range, BV enjoys a microclimate called the ‘Banana Belt’ – meaning that whilst you make the most of its 350 inches of annual snow in the backcountry, you will also likely be basking in the sun back in town.

This course is the ideal course for those looking to begin their backcountry journey. This is my passion and it will be my pleasure to share this joy with you!

A chance to pre-empt developing any bad habits, I will explain all the backcountry fundamentals including; how to select and use equipment, how to plan your trips, how to travel uphill efficiently, how to deal with variable ski conditions, key avalanche awareness and more.

On completion of the course you will be equiped with everything you need to begin a successful and fun backcountry skiing journey!

This course, however, will not teach you how to ski so you should be a competent skier before diving into the backcountry.
