Description

Come with me on a 6-day hiking trip in one of the most beautiful spots in Italy – the Cadore Valley. We’ll stay in charming hotels rich with character and traditional mountain huts along the way and enjoy delicious regional food. This is an experience you’ll remember forever.

On this trip, we’ll follow the Marmarole hiking circuit. This will take us across different types of terrain, from narrow mountain paths to cycle paths and gravel roads. We’ll also encounter some steep inclines and some sharp descents. There are even some sections with high drops.  This might be worrying to those with vertigo, however we’ll have extra safety equipment on hand to manage these short sections.

In total, we’ll spend around 4 to 8 hours hiking each day. Along the way, we’ll be able to enjoy the scenery of green rolling hills, rugged mountainous vistas, beautiful waterfalls and forests. These are landscapes you do not want to miss.

Request to book now and start getting excited about your adventure-filled hiking trip around the Marmarole hiking circuit.

If you are looking for a hiking holiday suitable for the whole family, you should definitely check out this family-friendly hike in the northern Dolomites.

Day 1: Day one

We’ll pick you up at Venice Marco Polo airport or Venice Mestre train station around midday. We’ll have a light lunch on our way to the Cadore valley where we’ll stay the first night at Auronzo di Cadore lake. You’ll have some free time before dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Day two

We’ll take a ski lift ride in the town of Auronzo. Then we’ll begin a panoramic hike. We’ll start by hiking through forests, then we’ll cross the fields of the Marmarole massif. During this section of the hike, we’ll gain 600 metres of altitude. We’ll enjoy hiking through hilly scenery for around six hours before arriving at the mountain hut Rifugio Chiggiato. This hut is family run and we’ll have dinner and spend the night there.

Day 3: Day three

We’ll start the day with a downhill walk in woodlands. We’ll then go 900 metres uphill on a narrow path to Rifugio Galassi. From there we’ll enjoy panoramic views. Throughout the day we’ll be able to enjoy amazing views of the Marmarole and Antelao massifs. We’ll spend a total of around seven hours walking on this day. In the evening we’ll eat and stay at the Rifugio San Marco.

Day 4: Day four

Day four begins with an uphill hike and 360-degree views of valleys and mountainous terrain. We’ll descend on narrow paths and go on to explore more valleys and forests like the beautiful Foresta di Somadida forest reserve. To finish we’ll follow a cycle path with a steep incline, then a descent. We’ll spend the evening at a beautiful lakeside lodge where we’ll stay for the last two nights.

Day 5: Day five

We’ll finish our trip strong with a hike to the most famous Dolomites sight, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. This takes us on wide gravel tracks and rocky mountain paths and gives us spectacular views. We’ll then eat dinner at a mountain dairy.

Day 6: Day six

We’ll drive you back to Venice airport or Venice Mestre train station for around midday.
