Description

Would you like to enjoy an awesome winter adventure in a scenic destination? Then come to the Pyrenees for an ice climbing trip. We can discover the frozen icefalls of Gavarnie, Canal Roya and Bielsa!

Stretching for about 490 km from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean Sea, the Pyrenees mountain range separates the Iberian Peninsula from the rest of Europe. Shared by France, Spain and Andorra, this alpine region is the perfect destination for winter sports.

Ice climbing is one of the mountain sports that requires most experience. However, it is not necessary to be an expert mountaineer to enjoy this adventure: if it is your first time, I will help you with the basics. Otherwise, if you have already practiced this sport, you can improve your skills under expert guidance!

Please note that you can join me for one or several days. These are our possible destinations:

Gavarnie: In this circus located at the French Central Pyrenees we will find ice cascades with altitudes over 300 meters.

Canal Roya: Accessed through the Formigal ski resort (Spain), it’s a great spot both for initiation in the sport or to try challenging routes with panoramic views of the Anayet (2,545m).

Bielsa: Located in Huesca (Spain), and part of the Aragonese Pyrenees, it offers different valleys with scenic routes for all levels.

So, are you up for this amazing winter experience at the Pyrenees? Then just contact me and and get ready to climb frozen walls with crampons and an ice axe!

I also offer winter mountaineering ascents in this same mountain range. Check them out here.

Mountain Guide

AEGM Mountain Guide from Spain

Passionate for mountains since I was a kid, at 14 I started climbing in Atxarte (Vizcaya) walls, thanks to some friends. Later I discovered other activities such as canyoning, skiing and ice climbing, which allowed me to enjoy mountains both in summer and in winter.

I travelled around Europe, USA, India, Peru, Marruecos, among others, with the excuse of climbing some peak, wall, or doing some canyoning.

I've been a member of the 'Young Alpinists Technification Team' of the Basque Mountain Federation, and after gaining experience in all mountain disciplines I left behind my job as electronic technician to become a guide in order to pass on my passion and knowledge to others.
