Description

The gorgeous Ala-Archa National Park is an alpine area that sits amongst the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan.

Located roughly 40km south of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s capital, the park streches about 200 square kilometres.

Within the park are more than 20 glaciers, 50 mountain peaks and other stunning geology such as waterfalls and gorges.

We will meet in Bishkek and travel to the park together. We will stay in huts on the mountainside that provide amazing views.

We will practice our ice climbing skills on the Ak Sai glacier. This will involve many different and important techniques, which are listed in the itinerary.

There are ice climbing options for all different levels and you can choose the route most appropriate for your skill set.

After two days of practice and a hike up to Korona hut, we will set off for our ascent of Izyskatel peak at 4400M. The panoramic views from this vantage are incredible.

You will need to be in good physical condition for this trip and have at least an intermediate ice climbing skill set.

Our itinerary is flexible depending on your requirements so we can adjust the schedule if needed.

Mountain Guide

We invite you to open the world of high and wild mountains
Our bureau was created by professional mountain guides Pavel Vorobiev and Anastasya Cheremnyh, both local IFMGA certified guides and Snow Leopards.

We have been working in the mountains for many years and have extensive guiding experience. In addition, we know this region of Central Asia very well. Based on our experience and your wishes, we will be able to tell you where to find the best snow for an amazing ski touring program or where to find the best rock or the best ice for an unforgettable climbing trip.

We take guide selection very seriously. We know each of the guides we work with personally after having worked and climbed with them many times. Most of them are IFMGA-certified guides, Snow Leopards and members of the Kyrgyz Mountain Guide Association (KMGA). All of them are professionals with extensive experience.

These are some of the guides in our team:
- Oleg Turaev: IFMGA and KMGA-certified, he has participated in many mountain rescues and is one of the most experienced guides in Central Asia.
- Sergey Seleverstov: IFMGA and KMGA-certified. He is also a Snow Leopard. He has climbed more than 20 mountains over 7000m.
- Artur Usmanov: IFMGA and KMGA-certified and also a Snow Leopard. He stood on a summit over 7000m 12 times.

We offer standard programs, but all of them can be adapted depending on your wishes and experience. Our philosophy is pretty simple: 1) safety, 2) a fun and positive experience for our guests and 3) reaching the summit.
Apart from the Tien-Shan & Pamir mountains, we successfully guide our guests in the Andes, Africa, the Caucasus, the Alps and the Himalayas

What people are saying about Central Asia

Thomas

The guides (Pavel and Anastasia) were fantastic. They were very knowledgable and accommodating, particularly with such a large group of relatively inexperienced hikers. I can not recommend them highly enough to anyone thinking of a trip to Kyrgyzstan and the surrounding mountains

Sandeep

I learnt a lot through this short mountaineering course and hope to take these new skills to new mountains and new heights! The highlight of this program was actual summit climb of 4000 Mt mountain in winter in - 25 deg cel. I'm grateful to my guide Kirill B , chef and team at Central Asia Guides for making this possible.
