Let me take you ice climbing in the Hautes Alpes and discover that this activity can be just as much fun as climbing on rock.
Contrary to popular belief, ice climbing is not particularly dangerous and you don't need to be cold. It's all a matter of planning! The key to not being cold is to remain dry during the climb. The right gear is crucial to allow you not to get wet and not to sweat excessively.
What is also great about ice climbing is that you can have a great time even as a beginner. Join me on one of these ice climbing sessions and you'll understand what I'm talking about!
Depending on conditions, we'll choose between several spots in the Hautes Alpes: Freissinières, Ceillac (Queyras), and La Grave are among the options. I will of course also take your wishes into account, so don't hesitate to let me know if you have a specific interest in one of these spots. The good point is that these places are less crowded than the other classics of the Alps like Cogne in Italy.
In the Hautes Alpes, you'll find ice climbing routes to suit everyone: long, short, steep, not steep, etc. So let me know what your expectations are so that I can plan accordingly. I particularly enjoy coaching my clients, allow them to progress and reach their next ice climbing level.
Come join me and discover ice climbing for yourself. This adrenaline-packed activity is a great way to enjoy the outdoors during the winter!

Mountain Guide
Even as a kid, I knew I wanted to become a mountain guide. Growing up in Aix-en-Provence, in southern France, the Alps have been my playground since a very young age. Amazing climbing spots like the Calanques and Gorges du Verdon were just a stone throw's away from my hometown.
Eventually, I also became an architect, another long-time passion. As an architect, I lived in New York, Barcelona and Rotterdam and learned to speak fluent English and Spanish. I also met great people and had an amazing time while doing it!
I'm now back home in France and spend most of my time guiding in the Alps. I'll be happy to take you rock climbing, skiing or mountaineering to some of my favorite spots.

Me and my partner had the goal to learn how to lead climb outside by ourselves. Within 2 days Max learned us the basics of how to safely lead climb outdoors. He knew where to take us in the area, that would and cover both our styles of climbing and would be bearable with the summer heat in France. I would recommend anyone who is looking to learn lead climbing outside or wants someone who knows the area, to book a trip with Max !

We had a fantastic climbing day with Max. He was fun to hang out with. He set up lots of climbs that were fun for all the abilities of our group. He made us feel safe and confident. Max’s English is perfect which meant a lot to some of us.

Maxence was absolutely great! Super friendly and knowledgeable. With very little back and forth he was able to plan a perfect climbing day trip for us, including our first multi-pitch climb (and all of this was actually a backup plan, since the area we were going climbing was closed due to high winds). I look forward to going climbing again in Calanque and would not hesitate to book him again!!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
