Description

Join us on this ice climbing day in the Korouoma Canyon in Finland, near Rovaniemi, and we will guide you as you scale the towering, majestic and glorious cliff faces and ice falls of the area that provide excellent ice climbing conditions and a thrilling sense of satisfaction as you climb over 100m high on the gorge, with the associated views out over the Finnish Lapland countryside a beautiful sight.

Korouoma is an extremely deep and wide canyon located in Finnish Lapland, approximately 100km from the capital city of Lapland, Rovaniemi. It is an immensely popular outdoor activity location in both Summer and Winter, and is internationally renowned as the best ice climbing spot in Finland.

Our day begins when we meet in Rovaniemi, and from there we drive for roughly 1.5 hours to Korouoma.

Once there we hike down to the canyon and go through all relevant safety information and procedures.

We then ice climb to our hearts content throughout the course of the day, with the massive sheer cliff faces covered in ice providing a variety of challenging yet rewarding routes to climb on.

The views back out over the landscape, scenery and terrain of Lapland are absolutely sensational, with the remote and isolated location of the canyon ensuring the countryside is pristine and relatively untouched from the modern world.

After a full day of climbing on these magnificent icefalls we enjoy a delicious barbecue next to a bonfire in the canyon, before finishing our adventure by heading back Rovaniemi, feeling weary yet satisfied after such a fun day.
