Join me on this fun and exciting daylong ice climbing adventure where we will teach you the safest and best ice climbing techniques, climb amongst some of the most thrilling landscapes imaginable (including frozen waterfalls!) and take in some truly special and unique views of the abundant gorgeous scenery and terrain, all in the delightful Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada.

Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and approximately 300km from the city of Edmonton, Jasper National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is renowned throughout Canada and the world as a veritable outdoor activity wonderland, with perfect conditions for winter activities.

Our top ice climbing spots include the iconic Johnston Canyon, the scenic Lake Louise Falls, and the picturesque Grotto Canyon. Each location offers stunning frozen waterfalls and diverse terrain, catering to all skill levels — from beginners to seasoned climbers.

The views we will be exposed to are truly breath-taking, as you will see the national park in all its glory, with the snow-capped mountain peaks giving way to tranquil alpine forests and vast and open tracts of valleys, lakes, glaciers, canyons and waterfalls.

Itinerary

Day 1: Day of Ice Climbing in the Canadian Rockies

Our day starts around 8-9 AM at a confirmed location in Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise, or Field, BC — chosen based on the best weather and ice conditions. After gearing up and a safety briefing, you’ll spend the day climbing frozen waterfalls and exploring the stunning Rockies, wrapping up around 3-4 PM.
