Description

When it comes to ice climbing, no matter how much experience you have, there is always room to improve. And on this 2 day intermediate to advanced level course, we would like to help you refine the skills you already have, while also helping you develop new ones. And we would like to do that on the ice walls of the breathtaking Hyalite canyon in Montana, USA.

In the beginning of the course, we will conduct a review of the skills you already possess. A few examples include knots, harnesses and belays, ice screw placement, how to properly read ice and more. This is important because it will let us know what skills you are proficient in and what skills need some improvement. After that, we will proceed to instruct you on new techniques. And because this course takes place at the Hyalite canyon, you will have ample opportunity to put what you have learned into practice on the ice.

To give you an idea of what you will be learning during this course, please see below.

  • Proper anchor set-up

  • How to place protection on a lead

  • Developing steep ice climbing techniques

  • Avalanche risk assessment

  • Introduction to mixed climbing

  • Introduction to multi-pitch scenarios

Like any demanding and thrilling activity ice climbing requires a lot of personal investment. You have to consciously make an effort to want to improve if you want to scale larger, more challenging ice walls. And the best way to improve is to learn from experts.

So send us a request, join us at the Hyalite canyon, and let us help you improve the skills you already have, and teach you some new ones!

Peggy

Will was great wise and fun to spend the day with.

Phillip

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Lucie

All perfect

Amanda

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
