The West Fork Oak Creek Trail is a very popular hiking destination due to the astounding beauty of the area and beginner-friendly nature of the hike. It’s located in the scenically diverse Coconino National Forest just north of Sedona, Arizona.
The trail takes you along Oak Creek, which is bordered by red and orange canyon walls. Early on in the trek, the trail becomes narrow and you must cross the stream several times to continue, but there are conveniently-placed stones to step on and the water is shallow.
The landscape looks quite different depending on the time of year. In summer the vegetation is lush and the air is fresh, not too hot or humid. Fall is spectacular as the leaves change to match the colors of the canyon walls. In wintertime you can often find there’s a light dusting of snow.
No matter what season it is or how much trekking experience you have, you can’t go wrong with this hike. Come discover Oak Creek and you’ll be left in awe of its beauty.
