The Chamonix-Mont Blanc region is the perfect location for this course. If you are a beginner looking to learn the skills you need for future glacier hiking adventures, this programme is for you! This course is also open to children from 12 years-old, so bring your family along and enjoy 2 amazing days in a spectacular location.
Chamonix is a world-famous destination for mountain lovers. Located in the Haute Savoie region, this beautiful village lies at the foot of the impressive Mont Blanc, near the Aiguilles Rouges and Aiguille du Midi massifs.
During these 2 days, you will learn the following basic glacier hiking techniques:
Glacier progression with rope, using crampons and ice axe
Rescue techniques on crevasses
Find below a sample of the 2-day glacier progression course. Keep in mind that I reserve the right to modify the program depending on the level of participants and also on the weather conditions.
DAY 1: Chamonix – Les Grands Montets – Ice School – Albert Refuge
Meeting at 8.45 am in Chamonix or at 9 am in the Grands Montets. We reach Balme Pass by cable car. Then we climb on foot to Albert Refuge. Training in the Glacier des Tours. Dinner and night on the refuge.
DAY 2: Albert Refuge – Ascent of Tete Blanche – Chamonix
Breakfast at the refuge. Afterwards, ascent to Tete Blanche (3429m). From the top, you can get an amazing panoramic view of the Aiguille du Tour. Finally, return to Chamonix on foot and cable car. End of the trip.

Sébastien is originally from Toulon. Before he dedicated his time fully to his passion, mountaineering, he has completed a degree in Alpine Geography.
His thirst for adventure took him from countries such as Turkey and Peru to the high mountains of Pakistan .
Since 2000, he work as a Mountain Guide in Chamonix, La Clusaz and all over the world.
