Located in the Adirondack High Peaks region, Catamount is one of its smaller mountains and is one of the classic shorter hiking trips in the area.
But don’t be mistaken! At 3166 feet (965 meters), we will discover one of the few sustained and challenging “Alpine type” hikes in the State of New York. Along the way, the route will get progressively steeper, culminating with an ascent of an almost vertical chimney in order to reach the summit. Consequently, we will combine both hiking and scrambling techniques.
Once we reach the top, we will enjoy the spectacular views of Silver Lake, Taylor Pond and Whiteface Mt. (4867 feet /1483 meters), the fifth-highest peak in New York!
Suitable for intermediate hikers, keep in mind that this is a moderate 3.6-mile round-hike where all participants need to be in great physical condition.
Also, we strongly recommend that hikers come prepared to our Adirondack hikes with comfortable clothing and a good pair of mountain boots. You may request trekking poles and a daypack if you wish.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity in the Northeast Adirondacks. Request to book this trip and get ready to explore the beautiful Catamount Mountain!
If you are looking for other hikes in New York, you can also join us on this challenging Hurricane Mountain hiking day, Adirondacks.
