Hiking at les Balcons du Queyras. 7-day trip w/ a UIMLA certified mountain guide
Alps
7 Days
May - Oct
Star-shaped hiking staying in a hotel, 7 days, 6 nights, 5 hiking days.
Leaving from a welcoming and comfortable accommodation, you will discover each day a new valley in Queyras, each having an architecture and natural environment of its own. A very diverse stay to relax in a region preserved from mass tourism. A stress-free week guaranteed!
Queyras is a true paradise for those wishing to encounter preserved natural areas during their holidays. Small authentic villages, a generous nature with abundant flowers and wildlife, mountain lakes mirroring the peaks… A week of discovery is not enough to see all the treasures of Queyras Nature Park! Not to mention the comfort of our small hotel at the heart of a lively and welcoming village.
Aiguilles offers small mountain shops and traditional craftsmen, good local products (pies, cheese, honey, jams…). You can stroll around its narrow streets, enjoy the summer activities and meet the locals who still cling to this little valley.
The highlights of the formula I propose…
– Guaranteed start from 6 participants on
– Comprehensive overview of the Queyras Regional Park with its many lakes
– Journey supervision by a local mountain guide
– Friendly accommodation at Aiguilles
I propose a 7-day program. I can of course adapt it according to your wishes and the time you have available in our beautiful area!
Day 1
Welcome at 7 PM Sunday at the accommodation site.
Day 2 – Introduction to Queyras
THE ADRET DE VILLE-VIEILLE AND FORT QUEYRAS
To leave from your accommodation by foot, a good path rises quietly as a balcony up to above the Guil torrent. Chalvet hamlets and Meyriès, an impressive view of Fort Queyras, you will begin to get familiarized with Queyras’ summits and natural treasures.
Altitude change: +450 m, -450 m
Walking time: 4:30hs
Day 3: Aigues Valley (Molines and Saint Véran)
CRETES DE LAMARON (2350 m). OPTIONAL TO PIC DE CASCAVELIER (2562 M)
At the foot of Saint Véran, we reach one of the most beautiful Swiss stone pine and Queyras larch mixed forests. We will certainly meet the “nucifraga caryocatactes” that haunts the forests… (but I will tell you!).
We reach the Curlet cross and then an easy path towards the Lamaron ridge allows us to enjoy a beautiful panorama of Saint-Véran and the peaks that make the frontier with Italy. Optional for those more athletic, we can climb le Pic de Cascavelier.
We conclude our tour with a guided visit of the highest commune in Europe: typical habitat, sundials, wooded fountains..
Altitude change: +550 m, -550 m (+100 for the Pic de Cascavelier)
Walking time: 5:30hs
Day 4: The guide’s day
I live in the area and I love a place, a small valley, a secret garden that I like to share.
Altitude change: between 400 and 600 m
Walking time: Maximum 5hs
Day 5: Valley of the Agnel pass (Italian border)
L’EYCHASSIER LAKES AND PIC DE FOREANT (3080 M)
Today our program is 100% panoramic! We will indeed reach the gates of the high mountains and explore the mountain lakes and plants and animals that survive the snowline. To this end, we will go by minibus to a parking located at an altitude of 2620 m, to get straight into it! Not much altitude change, small distances, but majestic panoramic views of the Alps and Mont Viso (3841 m), a steeper than usual path but a unique atmosphere!
Altitude change: +550 m, -550 m
Walking time: 5hs
At the end of the walk, it is possible to visit the museum “the house of honey” at Molines.
Day 6: Arvieux Valley (Izoard pass)
THE PASTURES OF CLAPEYTO AND THE FAVIERE LAKES (2509 m)
A real postcard scenery is waiting for you during this first hike. After a minibus transfer to the Arvieux valley, at the foot of the famous Izoard pass, you will quickly enter into the heart of the mountain pastures. Amid these vast areas, the summer pasture chalets of Echaillon and Clapeyto makes up a harmonious picture that evokes the past life of the mountain peasants. And over the mountain pastures, many small lakes are scattered among the greenery. A gentle day to be fully enjoyed!
Altitude change: +500 m, -500 m
Walking time: 5hs
Day 7: End of the tour after breakfast
Many hikes are possible at the Queyras park and during the week we will discover all the wonders of the mountain: mountain lakes, hamlets with particular habitat, pastures, meeting shepherds or beekeepers, not to mention the easy ascent to a splendid summit at over 3000 m!
We can modify the program to take into account the best periods to see the different aspects of the tour (flora, fauna, pasture, etc). I will define it myself with you. I invite you to contact me so we can talk about it.

Mountain Leader
I am a mountain leader in Queyras, I propose hikes and travels to places which I am deeply fond of and I know very well: Queyras and its bordering valleys, the Calanques, Nepal, Crete, Kosovo and Macedonia.
If you have already organised your trip (accommodation, transports, etc), I can propose a day or half day hiking or snowshoeing. Otherwise, we can design together a project adjusted to your desires, based on the trips presented below.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
