Piercing alpine peaks dominate the skyline of Val Bregaglia, a picturesque valley that mostly slides within Swiss territory, with a section falling into Italy.
The name of the valley originates from the Bergalei tribe that once inhabited the alpine territory.
Entering the Casnil pass places us at the heart of Val Bregaglia, opening up breathtaking landscapes and stunning views of giant granite spires.
Firstly, we’ll take the cable car to Albigna Lake, a tranquil reservoir that gently sits at 2,163 meters above sea level in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.
Albigna Lake is located on the southwest side of the Val Bregaglia. From here we’ll take off on foot, exploring the valley packed with breathtaking scenery.
You’ll ascend snowfields and navigate large granite blocks scattered along the Casnil south pass at 2,941 meters above sea level.
This hiking trip among the alpine wilderness of Switzerland should take approximately 5 hours on foot, with an altitude range of around 850 meters.
