Mount Carbajal and Turquesa Lagoon 1-day hike

Join me for a hike surrounded by mountains and turquoise waters. Mount Carbajal – Turquesa Lagoon is one of my favorite trails! And I want to share it with you.

Besides such amazing views during the hike, this program includes a summit attempt to Mount Carbajal. Yes, all on the same day. Please find here then, a more complete itinerary of this 1-day trek.

ITINERARY

First of all, we start a 1-hour hike up to Turquesa Lagoon. Once there, we can enjoy the mountain landscape and the color of such a stunning lagoon. And here the ascent begins.

From the Gotama Edge, through unbelievable rock formations and the Turquesa Lagoon below us, we will finally reach the Mount Carbajal Summit.

The top of this mount provides us one of the most wonderful views of the Andes. As a reward of your effort, you’ll get a unique viewpoint from the end of the world with millennial glaciers and mountain lagoons. At this point, you can see how the glaciers chiseled their way to the Beagle Channel during the last ice age.

As you may notice in this description, this hiking trip requires a moderate fitness level. The trail is 8 km long and the ascent is of 600 meters. On the way you have to overcome rocky, muddy and snowy surfaces.

• Departure time: 9 am

• Return time: 4 pm

• Walking time: 6 hours

Optional: the day can finish in Olum Valley in the company of a great sunset. Then, we can have a Patagonic snack in a forest hut. There is no place like the peaceful Lenga Forest. Enjoy a Fuegian environment and a cozy fire of a coal stove.
