Only an couple hours from Madrid, Sierra de Gredos is the perfect place for an escape into the natural world. It boasts rugged granite formations, gorges, glacial lakes and the tallest mountain in Central Spain: Almanzor Peak. Sierra de Gredos is known for its diverse vegetation, mountain goats and dark skies which make it an optimal place for stargazing.
On this two-day hike through Sierra de Gredos Natural Park, we’ll enjoy everything that this extraordinary place has to offer. We’ll cross the beautiful glacial lakes of Laguna Grande and Five Lagoons. We’ll go through the Portilla del Rey pass at 2,383 meters. And at the end of a long day of hiking and after enjoying drinks and a hot meal, we’ll go to sleep in a bivouac (only with a sleeping bag and pad) under the starry skies. (There is also the option to sleep in a mountain hut for anyone who prefers that.)
This trip is challenging and participants must have a good level of physical fitness. We will trek a total distance of 24 kilometers, with 1,770 meters of ascent and 1,235 meters of descent.
Don’t miss this opportunity to have an adventure and fall in love with Sierra de Gredos!

The hike organised by Dreampeaks was great. Organisation was seamless, Gabriel picked us up at our hotel in Madrid and drove us to the start of the hike in the Sierra de Gredos. We had three guides with us (one pro, Hugo, and two trainees Magdalena and Jesus) who told us about the nature, mountains and animals. Our guides were super friendly and enjoyable to be around. The hike in itself is perfect for beginners or more advanced walkers and has a lot variety in terms of landscapes, rhythm and intensity. We did a hike over two days and slept in a shelter which was a unique experience. Once up at the mountain shelter, we enjoyed a glass of Spanish cider and played some board games. Although we didn’t pack all necessities, we could just borrow a backpack and sleeping bag from the organisation, which was really convenient. We strongly recommend to book your hike around Madrid with Dreampeaks!
