Hike Gorbio-Saint Agnes + summit of Bausson, France

Explore some of the most dazzling places in France. Join me on this adventure from Gorbio to the village of Saint Agnes. And, let’s reach the summit of Bausson (1,087m)!

In this part of the world, the mountains and hills blend perfectly with the Mediterranean Sea. And they guard medieval villages that seem to have been preserved in time. During our hike we’ll visit two of the most famous ones in this region, Gorbio and Saint Agnes.

Gorbio is town that stands at 354 meters in the heart of the Rail valley, east of Monaco. This village will transport us back in time so we can discover how life was during medieval times. We can wander around dark staircases and mysterious alleyways. We’ll also find old doorways, baroque churches and stone arches that tell ancient tales. 

After leaving Gorbio, we’ll head to Sainte-Agnes, an incredible place with the reputation of being the highest coastal village in Europe. The town is perched on a cliff. And it overlooks Menton as well as the Mediterranean sea, standing at an altitude of 800 meters. Sainte-Agnes is rich in culture and history as well. Here we can visit castles, ancient buildings, military fortifications, and old, yet charming little streets.

Additionally we’ll reach the summit of Bausson, from where we’ll get the best views of all the Mediterranean landscapes. They include green forests of oak, and pines, and fields with aromatic plants like thyme, lavender and savory. If we come during spring we can also see many orchids.
