Description

The High Tatras are one of the best places in the world to enjoy winter activities. Seeing these magnificent peaks in Slovakia is an unparalleled experience. But, to make it even more special, I will also take you to the iconic Popradske Lake (1494 m) on this snowboarding trip.

We can explore this magical place in one or several days. I will also take into consideration your skill level. As there are some technical routes that require the use of crampons and ice axe.

So if you are an expert snowboarder looking for new challenges, I know exactly the places I will take you to. But, if you want to get more confidence as a beginner, I will show you some spots so you can practice at a comfortable pace.

Once thing is sure, you’ll get to enjoy some of the best snow powder! Here you can enjoy snowboarding in altitudes of over 1,500 meters, and way beyond the forest treeline.

One of the highlights of our trip is the lake of glacial origin Popradske. We can also visit the biggest and deepest lake in Slovakia: Veľké Hincovo pleso. And we can later head to the mountain hut  Kôprovský štít. This refuge has an incomparable 360º view of the lake, and a route straight to it.

Another amazing option to explore is the highest peak in the High Tatras shared by Slovakia and Poland: Rysy. Upon ascent, we can snowboard down about 2,000 meters. And if you wish to stay more than one day, we can spend some nights at the charming Chata pod Rysmi, a mountain hut right at the foot of Rysy.

So send me a request, and let’s explore this wonderful place in Slovakia. But, if what you want another type of adventure, check out this guided climbing day in Needle of Osterva, near Popradske lake.

Mountain Guide

I’m an IFMGA mountain guide born in west Slovakia, in 1973. Nowadays I live in Poprad, a city 10 km away from the High Tatras, the mountains where I’ve been working for 25 years.

I came to High Tatras when I was student, in the summer of 1991. I started to work as a mountain carrier-sherpa in the chalet Rysy. I was also a professional member of the mountain rescue service.

In 2011, I finished my mountain education in Chamonix and became an international mountain guide. I also worked as a cave rescuer in Slovakia.

During winter, I enjoy ski-mountaineering, freeride, ice climbing and ascending different peaks. On the summer season, I practice mountain climbing, hiking, mountain bike, rock climbing, guiding and a lot of other sports.

Besides traveling with clients, I sometimes go to the mountain alone or with my friends and son.

I offer courses for avalanche education, ski-mountaineering, rock and ice climbing. I also organize special team-building activities for clients and I’m used to working with young people and children.

What people are saying about Eduard Kuro

Aleksy

Kuro is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide, and a great guy. Highly recommend.

Sammi

Disorganised chaos. In spite of having booked months before we were given little information about what the trip would entail or where we were going. Extras included paying for the hire of snow boots & getting the cable car. All of which is not a problem but would have been handy to know - especially as the cost of the snow boots wasn't mentioned until we were on our way home. Eduard was very knowledgeable however he would only extend this knowledge to my male friend whom he told to encourage us as his English wasn't good (so why offer the service in English?). The climb itself was exhilarating & the setting truly beautiful.

Kaci

Eduard took my husband and I ice climbing for our first time. Eduard took great care of us, had great communication and is a lovely person to spend a day with. He is an expert in the field and it shows! He took care of all the logistics on the trip to make our experience comfortable. The experience exceeded our expectations. We were both able to climb a beautiful waterfall and enjoy the High Tatras.

Nadia

I had a nice time with the guide , he had to change the place and the date we climbed , because the weather was absolutely not favorable for the climb I originally booked ... I wonder what happens if the trip is canceled because the weather won’t allow it

Vivek

The man is made for speed so you better train yourself well if you want to hike with Kuro. He is flying in those mountains :) The experience of hiking with him was amazing and i will highly recommend him.
