High alpine day hike in the Tannheimer Tal, Tyrol

Discover one of the most beautiful parts of Austria. Join this high alpine hike across the Tannheimer Tal Valley in the north-west of Tyrol.

On this day adventure we will visit three dazzling lakes. First, from the Neunerköpfe peak, we’ll trek across a route that will lead us to the Landsberger Hütte. This route is great as it passes through the mesmerizing Lache lake. Then, we’ll continue to the Traualpsee lake. Finally, the third lake we will visit, Vilsalpsee, is considered the most impressive in Tyrol. Also, its surrounding nature reserve is a very important habitat for rare and unique animals and plants, like the European toad and the mountain salamander.

Our adventure begins riding a gondola from Tannheim towards the Neunerköpfle peak. Once we reach the top of the gondola, we’ll head to the summit of Neunerköpfle, from where we’ll get unrivalled views of the beautiful meadows of Zugspitze and the magnificent Allgäu Alps.

Thereupon, we’ll take the Saalfelder Höhenweg. Also known as trail 421, it crosses lovely meadows and will take us to the Schochenspitze mountain. Also, it offers incredible views of the  Gappenfeldalpe and Usseralpe mountain huts. Upon arrival at the summit of Schochenspitze, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Traualpsee and Vilsalpsee lake, along with the Landsberger Hütte. After taking in these fantastic sceneries, we’ll descend through rockfields towards the Landsberger Hütte hut, the perfect location for a drink and a snack.
