I invite you to a great adventure of discovery and exploration in the Troll Peninsula, in Northern Iceland! Join me on this unique 4-day heliskiing and heliboarding trip and enjoy first descents and visit peaks that no one has ever visited before.
The Troll Peninsula is a true paradise for skiers: about 90% of the peaks are skiable, so there are not many flat spots or cliff faces. The mountains offer the perfect combination of wide and open low angled glacier runs and steep to very steep faces and couloirs.
But what really makes the Troll Peninsula stand out from all other heliski and heliboard destinations is that with mountains rising straight out of the ocean, you can enjoy up to 1300m ski runs all the way down to the coastline!
During this 4-day heliski and heliboard trip, we will be based at the Klængshóll Lodge, in the Skíðadalur valley, in the Troll Peninsula. This trip will also be a cultural experience of a lifetime, with the possibility of meeting people who live in this remote area near the Arctic Circle.
We will also enjoy the unique possibility of skiing under the rays of the midnight sun in the late season. And if you come earlier in the season, we will be able to watch the magical northern lights!
What about the snow pack? It is basically coastal, so we may ski powder in March and April. Then, we find excellent corn snow in May and also in June, with the occasional powder snow well into June.
Besides, the Troll Peninsula offers incredible slopes for skiers of all levels, from nice areas for the first-time heli skiers to very extreme terrain, perfect for the expert and advanced riders. Our vast terrain covers more than 4000 square kilometers of spectacular Arctic mountains
The lodge is located right in the middle of the best ski terrain, so we have the opportunity of flying right out of there. Most important, the closest runs are just 3 minutes away from the lodge!
Besides, I know the Troll Peninsula like the back of my hand, so I will make sure you enjoy the best and safest experience! 2018 will be our 11th season of heliski and heliboard operations. You can check the day-by-day detailed itinerary at the bottom of this page.
So what are you waiting for? Send me a request, book your trip and let's start planning this great heliski and heliboard trip in the Troll Peninsula together!
I also offer a 6-day heliskiing trip. Check it out! Or take a look at all the other trips I offer in Iceland.
Arrival in Akureyri, Iceland in the afternoon. 45 min transfer to Klængshóll Lodge for a meet and greet, guest briefing and dinner. On the first evening we will discuss our plan for the next days, make sure all your gear is in order and relax after your trip. For those with less time available, meeting on day 2 ready to ski is possible. This way you can fly in from the USA or Canada and be skiing the same day.
During these days, we will enjoy first descents, adventure and exploration. You will have the chance to participate in Icelandic skiing history by skiing in areas never before visited by skiers. Evenings are spent at Klængshóll Lodge where we feast on local dishes focusing on organic lamb, fish and game prepared by our in house chef. In case of bad weather and no flying we have the unique opportunity to visit for example Lake Mývatn Nature Reserve with its steaming hot springs, volcanos and lava fields. Go ski touring, whale watching, sea angling or simply relaxing in one of many geothermal baths on the Troll Peninsula.
We pack our bags in the morning and head out for our last day of skiing. After one more day of great turns we have lunch in the field and head home for one last sauna or hot tub session. Then we head back to Akureyri where we can catch a flight to Reykjavik or even connect to the Eastern seaboard that same day.

Mountain Guide
I'm Iceland's first IFMGA internationally certified mountain guide. I'm a member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides ACMG with whom I finished my certification. I have climbed and skied extensively all over the world, and I lived and worked in both the European Alps and the mountains of Western Canada.
I have brought this wealth of diverse experiences to Iceland and the Arctic North where I have to my name over a hundred first ascents and descents in Iceland and Greenland.
My love of the mountains grew from an early age working as a shepherd on my grandparent's farm on the Troll Peninsula in Northern Iceland. Or maybe it had something to do with my name, which in English would translate directly to Glacier Mountain man.
If you want to discover this beautiful country, please get in touch with me and let's leave together for incredible adventure!
