Located to the northwest of Aspen in the pristine wilderness of Western Colorado, Rifle Mountain Park has become a hot bed of rock climbing activity. From difficult lines, exciting canyon rappels, great greenhorn courses, and a surrounding nature that includes waterfalls, trout hatcheries, and exhilarating hikes, this incredible spot really does cater to everyone. If you are looking for outdoor adventure, you came to the right place.

Your program immerses you in the thick of all of this and helps you take your first step into rock climbing. This beginning-level course is designed to get you excited about the sport, from the landscape itself to the unique rush you get from scaling the walls of a canyon. Even in a half-day, we can take you from a complete rookie and give you the skills necessary to progress into a budding mountaineer.

Over the course of the program, you will learn how to tie basic knots, acquire and practice fundamental climbing techniques, and problem-solving skills that will show you how to safely navigate your way around the rock. Top roping and rappelling are some of the basics we can also include. With an eye on safety, I will make sure to lend you my expertise so you can get practical instruction and knowledge you can use throughout your climbing career.

We generally aim for the Western Slope as our training ground, but part of Rifle Mountain Park’s allure is its abundant lines, including an array of beginner routes. If you are a first timer, or if you want to build on a basic foundation, we can tailor your trip to your needs and abilities.

The scenery of Rifle Mountain is the cherry on top. After your program, you can check out the Rifle Falls State Park or the ice caves. For an additional thrill, a vast network of hiking trails snakes throughout the area. Little Box Canyon, one of the narrowest gorges in the area near the caves, is a great spot for a picnic as well.

Will was great wise and fun to spend the day with.

Phillip

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Lucie

Amanda

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
