Family Friendly Half Day Nature Hike in Mercantour National Park, Isola 2000

Nature lovers of all ages are invited to learn about the flora and fauna of Mercantour National Park during this guided half day nature hike!

During the winter months, the area of Isola 2000 may be known as one of the top ski resorts in Southern France.  However, those who visit during the summertime are able to enjoy beautiful mountain panoramas, along with the abundant flora and fauna of the popular Mercantour National Park. It is a popular destination for hiking and many other activities, particularly due to its proximity to Nice.

We will explore a route along Les Cretes de La Lauzetta.  Walking along the ridge, we will experience incredible panoramic vistas of the Italian and French Alps.  Along the way, we will observe the wildlife of the area, including chamois and marmots, with binoculars or a telescope.  Additionally, I will share information about the different plants and flowers of the mountain, and teach you about the geological formation of the mountains.

This is a half-day excursion that lasts approximately 3 hours, with an hour of time spent walking at a very moderate pace, with a minimal altitude gain/loss of 30m.  We will depart from the tourist office at 8:30 AM.  This outing is suitable for families with young or very young children, especially those who are curious about the wonders of nature.  Of course, this is also a wonderful excursion for adults who want to learn more about the natural environment of the area.
