It is a honor for me to invite you to this unique 3-day ski tour in the Frey Hut. It is a must on a ski trip if you plan to come to Bariloche!

As you probably know, the Frey hut is located at 1700 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Frey needle. This mountain hut is a legendary refuge with a really warm and nice ambiance. Furthermore, the amazing skiing options are endless. During this 3-day tour I will lead you between granite towers and deep blue mountain lagoons.

As for the itinerary, it starts in the popular Cerro Catedral ski area. Then, after some ski lifts and nice runs down and up the Vantitter valley, we’ll reach the Frey hut. The next days will be really exciting, skiing through the most outstanding landscapes around the hut. On the third day, we’ll return to Bariloche by private transfer.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cerro Catedral – Frey Hut

I will pick you up at your hotel in Bariloche and drive to the Cerro Cathedral ski area. A few lifts bring us to the top of the mountain where our ski touring trip starts. We will reach the Frey hut after a first nice run down to Vantitter valley and a short ascend up to the hut. There will be plenty of couloirs with fresh snow to be discovered this afternoon. Night and dinner at the cosy Frey hut.

Day 2: Ski touring day

All day skiing around Refugio Frey today. We will discover mountain lagoons and ski between granite towers. Make sure you will taste a good Mate (Argentinian tee) by the end of the day. Enjoy a dinner and night at Frey hut again.

Day 3: Frey Hut – Bariloche

There is still much more to ski today before heading back down to Bariloche.

About the guide

Federico

Mountain Leader

Fede is originally from La Pampa, but changed the plains for the mountains to dedicate his time climbing and skiing. He is a fully certified IFMGA guide, who has climbed in many destinations around the world like Patagonia, Switzerland, France, Italy, Croatia and Peru.

He is also a ski instructor and has been teaching at the AAGM (Asociacion Argentina de Guias de Montana) for 8 years. Fede is well known for his endless list of jokes and for doing the most amazing "asados" (argentinian BBQ).

He lives between Bariloche and Switzerland, where he works full time as a Mountain Guide and Ski Instructor, so he can guide a big variety of trips both to the Andes and to the Alps.
