Grossglockner (3,798m) is a wonderful mountain to see, climb, and experience at any time of the year. During the summer months (June – September) people from all over the world gather to climb the peak and admire the majestic views from its summit. They huddle near the famous cross perched at the top of the mountain, proud of scaling such an amazing mountain. Meanwhile, during the late winter months (March and April) there is an entirely different experience one can enjoy.
Only on March and April, as that is the only time during the winter when the mountain huts are open, you can join me on this thrilling 2 day skiing and climbing adventure to the top of the Grossglockner. This trip offers a great ski mountaineering experience that will leave you breathless, not only of the fantastic views of the snowcapped peaks of the Alps, but also of the thrill of skiing on the Grossglockner’s ample slopes.
On the first day of the trip, we will make our way up to the Erzherzog Johann Hut (3,450m), where we will spend the night. On the following day, we will make our way up to the summit. And after you’ve enjoyed the precious views, you will then get to enjoy an amazing skiing descent back to the mountain’s base!
Due to the nature of the trip, participants should be in good physical condition. Also, some previous mountaineering and off-piste skiing experience is a plus as well.
With only a short 2 month window to enjoy this ski mountaineering trip on the highest peak in Austria, it would be a shame to miss out. So send me a request, and let me guide you on an adventure you will never forget on the Grossglockner.
Are you interested in climbing this incredible peak during the summer season? If so, I can also guide you to the summit on this 2 day ascent.
More info
The maximum number of participants I can take with me on the rope will depend on the level of the climbers but also on the conditions. Usually I will take max 3 persons with me. My top priority is for everybody to be safe! If you have a group larger than 3 people, I'll ask another IFMGA mountain guide to join us.

My guide ended up being a local snowboard guide named Peter. It was excellent. Lovely guy, we got to ride some powder as well as practice searching with the avalanche rescue equipment. All round good day. Would highly recommend
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
