The Green Gardens Hiking Trail is located in the Gros Morne National Park on the island of Newfoundland. The Newfoundland and Labrador Province is the easternmost province of Canada, with its own climate, geoformations, and wildlife. The park is on the western side of the island, looking across the Gulf of St. Lawrence to mainland Canada.

Beginning in the rugged trails of the Tablelands, your program will take you through the unusual terrain of Gros Morne, which includes exposed mantle. Our path winds through boreal forests to the coast, where we reach sea cliffs of volcanic rock and see the thriving lush meadows and fascinating geology. The afternoon consists of meandering through fields of wildflowers, exploring the shore, and examining the history of the rocky coastline.

You can keep your eyes peeled for sheep, as the region was long used as a summer range for livestock and some of its wooly descendants remain today. There are also caribou, moose, and other remarkable wildlife to discover, and catching a glimpse of a whale off the coast is not out of the question during the early summer months.

You can pass gorgeous forestland after the barren landscape of the Tablelands and finish your hike with the coastal views that round out a perfect afternoon.
