Description

Reaching the summit of a 4000m peak is a goal for many mountaineers. Join one of the guides on our team and summit Gran Paradiso (4061m), in the heart of the Alps over the course of three days.

The Gran Paradiso summit is within the reach of good hikers with some prior experience in the use of crampons. Being in Italy will allow you to enjoy the Italian lifestyle. Indeed, the warm welcome and good meals are one of the highlights of this program!

In addition to Gran Paradiso, we will summit Tresenta, near the Vittorio Emanuele refuge. This short mountaineering excursion is totally doable in one weekend. Besides, getting to Pont Valsavarenche is very easy.

This is course is accessible for eager beginners! No specific difficulty. However, you are advised to have some experience walking with crampons and walking off-trail in the mountains while carrying your backpack with some gear in it. You should be able to cope with walking at altitudes above 3000m.

Furthermore, you should be used to outdoor sports and do endurance training on a regular basis (cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, swimming). If this is not the case, you should run at least 3 times a week (10 km/hr) two to three months before the course. Expect to be on the go for 6 to 8 hours per day with approx 900 to 1300 m ascent/descent.

Had an absolutely fantastic experience on a 3 day trip of Gran Paradiso. Our guide Christophe Garrigues was incredibly knowledgeable and patient and ensured everyone in our group felt comfortable and confident when on the mountain or using new equipment. Definitely a trip to be repeated with Azimut and hopefully Christophe!
