Description

Discover Los Galayos in this 2-day alpine adventure I bring today.

Los Galayos area is also known as El Galayar. It is a group of granite needles between 2000 and 2200 meters high located in Sierra de Gredos, in the province of Avila. Its name derives from the Arabic language and means "bare rock that rises in a mount".

In addition, these granite towers that stand in front of the Victory hut are part of the history of the Spanish mountaineering. Despite its imposing appearance, all granite spires have a weak point. I will help you find it and reach the summits of El Torreon and El Gran Galayo with ease. They are 2 of the three most emblematic peaks of El Galayar. The third one is Punta Ma Luisa which we'll also climb. Furthermore, we will enjoy these ascents through two of the most spectacular routes. They are La Gran Cresta de la Catedral and La Cresta del Torreon.

Please find the complete day-by-day program at the end of this description. And remember that the best period to come to Sierra de Gredos is from April till October. You can also seize your time in the area and ascend the Almanzor summit. It will be a unique experience of just one day!

Mountain Guide

UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide from Spain

I´ve climbed the most classical peaks in my country and in the Alps, and participated in trips and expeditions to iconic mountaineering destinations, such as Patagonia, the Himalayas, Yosemite, the Andes, Caucasus, Greenland, Africa and Alaska.

I’m happy cause I achieved what I always dreamed of as a child, and thought it was impossible: to live by and for the mountains.

I like to guide clients all around the world, but also to teach and work as an instructor, offering climbing and mountaineering courses.

I’m the former Director of Studies of Benasque’s Mountaineering School, and I’m now the Technical Director of Gredos Alpine School.

Starting as Guide assistant y ended up forming professional mountaineers. And in between, many years of routes, walls, summits, and thousands of kilometers to achieve the highest mountain guide certification, and make my dream come true.
