Description

Come rock climbing in Cascais with me and spend an unforgettable day in nature with your family! On this half-day program, we will adapt the climbing to your preferences and needs, taking into consideration your level and your kids ages, if you decide to come as a family. One of the most suitable places we can visit for families is a crag called “Pedra Amarela”.

It is situated in the Sintra forest, relatively close to Convento dos Capuchos. From the meeting point, we would walk to the crag, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes. It’s a very short and enjoyable hike through the forest. Once there, its easy to set a rappel line and there are around 20 different routes in the area to choose from.Because it is set a bit away from the main area, it’s very quiet. It’s perfect for teaching, and the climbing is quite easy.

Also since its in the middle of the forest, at the top of the crag you can enjoy beautiful views all the way to the coast.Techniques I can teach kids include basic skills from foot placement to belaying. It will depend a lot on the kids’ cooperation and ease with new information. However, the main point of the adventure is that they have fun so if they don’t want to focus on techniques, then I try to make it fun for them.

This is just one example of the places we can visit that is suitable for families with children. Of course, you can come rock climbing in Cascais and find other options too if you would like a different kind of experience. Just let me know and I will send you a proposal.

What people are saying about this trip

Kate

We had an excellent family (two adults, two kids aged 11 and 9 years) rock climbing trip with Joāo. While our kids had done some indoor climbing, they had not climbed outdoors before. Joāo instilled an enormous amount of confidence in the kids (and myself!) to make it up the rockface, using different strategies and a huge amount of patience. We had an amazing experience in a beautiful setting by the ocean. The time flew by. Thank you, Joāo!

Julie

Our guide, Joao, was very kind, patient and professional. Safety is a priority for him. He's also an excellent teacher, my kids had fun and learned a lot. His love of climbing is contagious.

Liza

I had a really good time climbing with Joao. I’m a beginner but I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t at least try to climb in Portugal. It was tough but really fun and Joao is a great instructor and motivator. I would defintetly go again if I had the time :)
