Highlights

  • Spend a full day rock climbing in El Chaltén, either if you are a beginner or experienced climber.
  • Learn about knot techniques, belaying and rappelling.
  • Try single or multi-pitch routes in the company of a guide, with amazing views of the Fitz Roy range.

Description

The village of El Chaltén has several rock climbing areas to fully enjoy a great sports day. That’s why I have planned a guided climbing day in this amazing region.

This trip is easily adaptable to climbers of all levels. Either if you are an indoor climber and want to try outdoor climber for the first time, or if you are an experienced climber who want to discover the best routes in Chaltén, or go on a thrilling multi-pitch climb with the Fitz Roy range in the background.

There are climbing crags right in town, and many more just a 10-20 minutes walk away!

First, during the morning I will teach you some knot techniques as well as belaying and rappelling skills. Moreover, you’ll be able to put into practice all that newly acquired knowledge, on some single-pitch routes. Then, if the weather is good you can try some multi-pitch climbing. This kind of activity requires a harder technical involvement but, under my supervision, you can do it safely.

This program will take about 6 to 8 hours in total.

Remember to bring comfortable clothes and shoes, a hat, something to drink and some snacks or a boxed-lunch.

As a certified UIAGM-IFMGA mountain guide from El Chaltén, I would be more than happy to guide you on this rock climbing day. All you have to do is book your place or send me a message by filling the contact form.

In this area, I also lead a ski touring program and a Base Camps Trek. Check them out!

Merlin took us for half a day of rock climbing in El Chalten. We initially had to reschedule our climbing however Merlin was extremely accommodating. Merlin's climbing knowledge and attention to detail made us feel safe, even though it was our first time climbing. We climbed at two different sites in El Chalten. Thank you Merlin for the amazing experience!

Hannah

Merlin was an exceptional guide - safety first & lots of instruction. Climbed about 10 sport routes with him from 5.8 to 5.9. The rock was great, route choices great! What could be better than rock climbing with Fitz Roy looming in the background! Merlin’s professionalism added to the experience. Oh & he will take you to eat lunch at the best empanadas in town :) I will return to Chaltén & Merlin has earned my trust to go into the big mountains and do a multi day ascent!
