Description

The Gaspesie National Park is a hiking mecca in Quebec, located in the Gaspé Peninsula, at the heart of the incredible Chic Choc mountains. The park offers beautiful scenery and a vast array of trails for day hikes, with something for everyone, from beginners to experienced hikers.

The park is situated in an area of pristine beauty, calved into two by the Sainte-Anne River, with the Chic-Chocs to the west, offering scenic views, and the McGerrigle Mountains to the east. The hiking trails stretch from 1 to 17 kilometers in length, ranging from easy to very difficult.

One of the main wildlife features of the park is the woodland reindeer or caribou. Actually it is one of the southernmost places in North America where you can see them in their natural habitat. Hiking in the Gaspesie National Park takes you to discover pristine and untouched nature.

Gaspésie offers so many amazing day hikes that it makes it hard to choose just one! So you can stay in the area and plan for more than one.

The challenging Pic de l’Aube hike (11.8 km return/ 4 – 5 hours) takes you to the most amazing viewpoint from the summit of the spectacular Chic-Chocs wall. On a clear day, you get a great view on the St. Lawrence. The Pic-du-Brule (13.2 km/ 4 – 5 hours) is another challenging hike, with amazing views of the Chic-Chocs range and the St. Lawrence valley.

If you are looking for a less demanding and shorter hike, you could go on the La Saillie hike (3.4 km return/1-2 hours). You will get beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and over the valley. The mostly wooded Chute-Sainte-Anne trail takes you up to an incredible lookout over a waterfall with great views over Mont Albert.

The Mont Jacques-Cartier hike (8.3 km return/4 – 5 hours) takes you to the summit of the hightes peak in the park (1268m). This area is an essential habitat of the caribou and the best place to observe it. If you love waterfalls, then you shouldn’t miss on La Chute-du-Diable hike (7 km return
**/**3 – 4 hours).

If you are looking for a real challenge, then the Mont Richardson hike, rated as difficult (11.5 km return/6 – 7 hours/ elevation gain:  705 m) is what you are looking for.  You could also try the Mont-Joseph Fortin trail. The Mont Olivine hike offers stunning 360 panorama views.

Will was great wise and fun to spend the day with.

Phillip

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Lucie

All perfect

Amanda

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
