Nevado de Colima, also known as Zapotepetl, is the seventh highest mountain in Mexico, reaching 4,340 meters above sea level. It belongs to the Colima Volcanic Complex that includes the Volcan de Fuego, an extremely active volcano with many recent eruptions. Located in a national park of the same name, this intriguing volcano is southwest of Ciudad Guzman, just over 150 kilometers south of Guadalajara.

Your compelling hiking program is designed to give you a fulfilling trek through the unique flora and fauna of a rare side of Mexico, putting you front and center to the daunting Volcan de Fuego. We will hike through pine forests and rugged terrain to the summit of Nevado de Colima, learning valuable information about the volcano itself and the history of its activity.

You can watch the environment change with the altitude, viewing ash deposits from previous eruptions while passing through the various ecosystems. Amazingly enough, one of the striking features you will notice is the abundance of bird and flower species while trekking towards the top. Once you have made it to the summit, you can look out at the Volcan de Fuego just five kilometers away.

This is a perfect blend of activity and instruction, allowing you a sustained path to the top with plenty of instruction along the way. This is a full immersion into a part of Mexico not often seen, giving you a unique perspective on some of the most exciting volcanoes in North America.

Our goal is to spend a majority of the day on the mountain, though less time actually trekking, so the program is open to anyone with a general fitness level. You just need to bring your passion for hiking and the outdoors to enjoy this trip.
