Description

Welcome to this trekking trip in the Challhuaco Valley!

As you may know, the Challhuaco Valley is south-east of the Nahuel Huapi National Park, 18 km from Bariloche City.

It is a really beautiful valley surrounded by the Nireco, Carbón, Ventana and Challhuaco mounts. Its amazing landscapes and native flora and fauna diversity make this adventure a trip of a lifetime!

As for the itinerary, our starting point will be Bariloche, from where a transfer will take us to the Challhuaco Valley, near the Neumeyer Hut. From this point we'll begin the walk along a low difficulty trail. It is a really nice route since we can admire a beautiful high forest on the way.

After a few minutes we will reach the first viewpoint of the hike. A panoramic scenery of Los Patos Lagoon. The walk continues until a detour, where we must take the trail that goes straight towards the Green Lagoon (Laguna Verde).

Once in the lagoon, you'll have the opportunity to appreciate the beauty and peaceful of its deep emerald color waters. This lake is also home of a kind of "micro-endemic frog" unique in the world.

And if you have more energy we can continue walking 15 minutes more by a trail that goes into a forest. We will then get to the Pedregoso Viewpoint, from where we will have a perfect panoramic view of the City of Bariloche and the Nahuel Huapi Lake. Now it's time to return down to our starting point by the same route.

Sarah

We had a different guide Mercedes at the last minute as Camilla’s daughter was sick. She was very nice and gave us lots of information. We did an up and back walk to Frey Hut and did not go up the cable car and along the ridge which was the circular planned route. It was raining in the morning which was the reason. The weather cleared as expected. It was a shame that this could not have done the walk the other way round. We are grateful Camilla organised another guide for us so that we were able to hike.

Camila has excellent knowledge of the area and was enjoyable to be with. Lunch was so so.

Sandy

A tough but thoroughly rewarding hike. The challenges of the trek are matched by the stunning views, unique flora, and wonderful people you meet along the way.
