Trekking in Bhutan, we’ll take you on yet another amazing trip into a spectacular landscape of crystal clear lakes and soaring Himalayan peaks. The Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek is one of the best treks in Bhutan which leads to several alpine lakes surrounded by majestic mountains.

On this 6-day trip, you’ll witness exceptional views of the Himalayas and explore the unique biodiversity of the region. It is an off-beaten trail which provides stunning vistas of the highest peaks in the world like Mount Everest, Jomolhari, Gangche Ta, Masang Gang, Tiger mountain, Jichu Drake and many more.

We’ll begin this trek from the beautiful village of Gynekha. Walking past serene lakes and beautiful meadows, you’ll be mesmerized by the idyllic landscape. The trail takes us through the mountain villages of Gur, Labatma and Panka. As you’ll trek through these beautiful Bhutanese villages, you’ll enrich yourself learning about traditional Bhutanese culture and lifestyle.

You’ll come across ancient Buddhist monasteries and hear enticing morning prayers on this trip. And you don’t have to be an experienced mountaineer to enjoy it. As long as you are fit, you’ll be fine!

Itinerary

Day 1: Gynekha to Gur

Start from the beautiful Gynekha village and descend towards the river. Cross the river and hike for about 2-3 hours to reach Gur, an alpine meadow.

Day 2: Gur to Labatama

Hike across high ridges and appreciate the rugged landscape. Walk through beautiful meadows adorned with wildflowers. Enjoy spectacular views of Kanjenjunga and several other Himalayan peaks. You’ll see the Dagala mountain range in its full glory.  Further, you’ll come across yak pastures and herder’s huts as you descend to reach Labatama.

Day 3: Relax at Labatama

Relaxing at Labatama. Visit the nearby lakes of Hen Tsho and Jama Tsho.

Day 4: Labatama to Panka

Climb on the western side of Dala Tsho. From here you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Jomolhari, Mt. Tshering Gang and many more. Hike to reach Panka.

Day 5: Panka to Talakha Gompa

Cross Tale La pass and descend to Talakha Gompa. Visit the monastery and walk on trails adorned with beautiful prayer flags.

Day 6: Talakha to Chamgang

From the monastery, descend to the village of Chamgang.
