Custom backcountry ski tours from a hut in the Sierra Nevada, CA (3-5 days)

Nestled at just over 10,200 feet above sea level in the heart of California's Sierra Nevada mountains, the Rock Creek ski hut is the perfect starting point for any backcountry skiing adventure!

Over the course of 3 to 5 days, depending on how much time you have available, we will explore the rugged and scenic terrain of the High Sierras, making numerous incredible runs and enjoying plenty of fresh powder along the way.

The adventure begins shortly after we rendezvous in  Tom's Place, California and head out into the mountains. The initial ascent to the ski hut is a moderate five mile approach over groomed cross country trails.

Once we have deposited our stuff inside, we'll immediately head out onto the trails and spend the rest of our time exploring the vast and remote California backcountry.

Unlike the more crowded resorts in these mountains, we are bound to have plenty of space all to ourselves. Among the highlights of the trip will be checking out the East Gullies as well as the shoulder of Mt Starr.

For more technically advanced skiers, we can strap on some skins and head to Mt Dade, Mt Abbott, and Treasure Peak. Depending on the conditions at the time, the Cat Ears Couloir, the Hourglass Couloir and the Northeast Couloir are also great options.

Away from Rock Creek, we also offer similar versions of this trip from North Lake Hut, just a bit farther south of Tom's Place, and Pear Lake hut, in Sequoia National Park.
