Crib Goch has fascinated climbers for centuries. This famous ridge offers the most exciting and wildest way up to Snowdon, Wales's highest peak. Snowdonia is UK's scrambling and climbing mecca and this is one of the most thrilling and iconic scrambles.
So, if you want to live one of the ultimate ridge experiences in Britain, this is your chance! I will take you for a scrambling day by the Snowdon Horseshoe route, traversing Crib Goch ridge.
Scrambling is an exciting activity, between hiking and rock climbing. So, this is not just walking and will involve the use of hands and feet at the same time, over considerable distances. Also, it will require a steady head for heights, since it includes the knife-edge arête of Crib Goch.
The Snowdon Horseshoe route starts and finishes at the Pyg/Miners Track. It will take us about 8 hours. The traverse of this ridge offers spectacular views!
Please note we will only attempt this route when the weather and underfoot conditions allow. In winter conditions, you can join me only if you have considerable previous experience in the use of ice axes and crampons.
Contact me if you want to join me on this ultimate scrambling adventure. Make a reservation and we can start planning our scrambling day in Snowdonia. Also, if you'd like to start with a less committing scramble, you can join me for the North Ridge of Tryfan scramble. It's a good warm up.
I also offer a guided climb to Snowdon summit, by any of the 6 possible routes. You can check it out!
More info
Personal warm and wet weather gear are a must, although I do have a few spares which I can lend out if necessary. Comfortable and good mountain boots are essential (approach shoes). They offer good ankle support and a decent grip. Training shoes do not generally offer this. During the winter months it may be necessary to hire extra equipment such as ice axes and crampons, which can be hired locally. There may be a minimal charge for these.
