Description

Don’t miss the chance to explore Nevado Copa (6,188 m) in the Huascaran National Park, a magnificent mountain in the Cordillera Blanca.

We’ll meet in Huaraz and head towards Vicos. We’ll pass many enchanting towns on the way, such as Monterrey, Marcará and Jangas. And once we arrive to Vicos, our team of porters will be ready to assist us, carrying our gear and supplies to the Copa Basecamp. Thereon, our hiking adventure begins. So for about 5 hours we’ll enjoy the most breathtaking sceneries of the Cordillera Negra, and its impressive peaks, like Vallunaraju and Urus.

After a good night sleep under a dazzling bed of stars and a nutritious breakfast, we’ll head to High Camp 1. We will scale up the morain until we reach the Copa Glacier. Upon arrival, we’ll gear up and strap on our crampons so we continue for about 1 more hour. Finally, when we reach High Camp 1, our efforts will be rewarded with the best views of Huascarán, Vallunaraju and the whole Callejón de Huaylas Valley.

Day 3 will be the day in which we reach the summit of Nevado Copa. We’ll depart at about 1:30 a.m., climbing for around 7 hours. After enjoying the hypnotizing views from the top and breathe in the freshest air, we’ll begin our descent back to High Camp 1, which will take approximately 3 hours. Then, we’ll take a well deserved break, before continuing to Basecamp.

On our last day, we’ll enjoy a 5 hour trek from Basecamp back to Vicos, where our vehicle will be waiting to drive us to Huaraz. At about 4:00 p.m. we’ll be arriving at Huaraz and dropping you back at your hotel.

If you wish to come on this expedition, just send me a request. It would be my pleasure to guide you on this mountaineering paradise.

I also guide this ascent to Huascaran South Face in 6 days, if you’re looking for another adventure.

What people are saying about Peru

He was very kind, patient and helped me to reach my goal the citadel of Machupicchu. One day I wanted to quit but he encouraged me to continue and waited for my step.

We did the MTB-Huarascan-Circuit (Crossing Punta Olimpica Pass and Portachuelo de Llanganuco Pass) with Eric Albinos „Peru Expedition“. All, the transfers, the hotel stays, the acclimatization tours and the circuit itself, was well organized. Eric and his staff were flexible to our wishes and very helpful. Our Guide Joni is an excellent mountain bike-guide and good tailor too if something is torn. The cook prepared delicious meals during the circuit. The camping equipment was in very good condition. We (Karin, Franz. Wolfgang) can fully recommend „Eric´s Peru Expeditions“.

The agency gave me a guide Darwin, not Juventino. Climb was good, easy just walking. There is one dangerous section near the moraine area with very loose gravel. So make sure you don't slip there or you are dead. I stayed in refugio at the base camp which was much more comfy than camping. Darwin was good but give clients some breaks once in a while, not rush too much. It's a high altitude climbing after all.

5 star guide. Nothing but the best.
