Cordillera Blanca

3 Days

Mar - Oct

Description

Welcome to a very interesting climbing program in the Nevado Maparaju**. A mountain that involves a gentle ascent and the best panoramic views.**

The Maparaju is one of the easiest mountains of the Cordillera Blanca. It is an ideal plan for people who do not have much experience in mountaineering. It also works perfectly as an acclimatization before a bigger challenge in the region.

Located in the Quilcayhuanca valley, from the Maparaju summit you will a great view of many mountains of the Cordillera Blanca. Some of them are the Tumarinaraju, Huantsan, San Juan, Cayesh, Ranrapalca and Andavite.

The Cordillera Blanca and the Nevado Maparaju are a very popular destination for mountain climbers from all around the world. In this Andean region you will find around 200 summits over 5000 meters of altitude.

This 3-day ascent I am proposing today starts in the city of Huaraz from where a transfer will take us to our trailhead in Quilcayhuanca. In the second day we'll reach the Maparaju summit (5326 m) and in the last day we'll return to Huaraz.

The best period of the year to come is from April till November. The maximum group size is 15 participants. I don't have an open group yet, so I can open a new one for you and your friends.

And if you are looking for a more challenging hike, take a look at my 5-day program through the Santa Cruz Trek.

Get in touch with me if you want to enjoy this amazing ascent up to the Maparaju summit. I will be glad to guide you there!

What people are saying about Peru

He was very kind, patient and helped me to reach my goal the citadel of Machupicchu. One day I wanted to quit but he encouraged me to continue and waited for my step.

We did the MTB-Huarascan-Circuit (Crossing Punta Olimpica Pass and Portachuelo de Llanganuco Pass) with Eric Albinos „Peru Expedition“. All, the transfers, the hotel stays, the acclimatization tours and the circuit itself, was well organized. Eric and his staff were flexible to our wishes and very helpful. Our Guide Joni is an excellent mountain bike-guide and good tailor too if something is torn. The cook prepared delicious meals during the circuit. The camping equipment was in very good condition. We (Karin, Franz. Wolfgang) can fully recommend „Eric´s Peru Expeditions“.

The agency gave me a guide Darwin, not Juventino. Climb was good, easy just walking. There is one dangerous section near the moraine area with very loose gravel. So make sure you don't slip there or you are dead. I stayed in refugio at the base camp which was much more comfy than camping. Darwin was good but give clients some breaks once in a while, not rush too much. It's a high altitude climbing after all.

5 star guide. Nothing but the best.
