Join me in this climbing trip to the fabulous Cogne Valley Ice Falls. Let Italy’s nature splendor and its charms amaze you! 

Have you ever wondered what is like to climb ice? Then this is the perfect excursion trip to face this challenge! And I will guide you through the Cogne Valley Ice falls step by step.

You will have the chance of ice climbing in a real amazing winter spot ideal for all the adventure lovers. Come with me and visit this amazing region in Northern-Italy. All adventurers, from beginners to experts, can take part in plenty of activities and sports the Valley has to offer.

You enjoy climbing but have little experience? It’s not a problem because the trip offers different climbing challenges that vary from 3° to 6° (easy to intermediate-moderate) and are suitable and recommended for everybody over 15 years old.

During this ice climbing day in the Cogne Valley, you can choose among the following frozen walls. Your decision will depend on your physical and technical level. Therefore, I will help you to make up your mind.

The group size will be of 2 people maximum so as to assure my personalized and efficient guidance throughout. Therefore, it is important that you follow my instructions to make the most out of the trip. Just select the right difficulty for you. Then, get your climbing equipment ready and let me guide you through the Cogne Valley mountains in total safety.

  • Included in the price: IFMGA Guiding fee, RC insurance and loan of the common security equipment (rope and ice screws).
  • Hiring of technical gear: 120€/per person for ice axes, harness, crampons and helmet.

Itinerary

Day 1: Meeting and preparation for ice climbing days

Meeting in Cogne at 8.30 am.

Depending on the technical abilities of the participants and also the ice conditions, we will choose the best waterfalls to guaranteed the access and climbing.

Destination will be chosen day by day according to to the wishes, abilities and of course the weather conditions.

We will dedicated this first morning to refresh the ice climbing skills and safety hints.

Day 2: Ice climbing on Cogne Valley: Valeille or Valnontey

The day will be spent on the icefall of Cogne Valley: Valeille or Valnontey.

At the end, we will enjoy a snack with typical products of the valley.

Day 3: Ice climbing on Cogne Valley: Valeille or Valnontey - End of the trip

The day will be spent on the icefall of Cogne Valley: Valeille or Valnontey.

The price does not include:

  • research and rescue insurance with UVGAM coverage (recommended): €5 per person for 3 days
  • hiring of any personal equipment (harness, ice axe, crampons and helmet): €20 per person while supplies last
  • transfers, meals and accommodation.

Founded in 2013 by Elis and Silvia, PEAKSHUNTER Mountain Guides is a team of IFMGA-certified Mountain Professionals and outdoor activities experts, based in the town of Aosta, not far from Courmayeur-Chamonix, on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif.

We live and work in the beautiful Aosta Valley region, very close to French and Swiss borders near to Geneva, Milan, and Turin international airports.

Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Dufourspitze, Pyramide Vincent and Regina Margherita Hut, Gran Paradiso, Breithorn, Lyskamm, Castor and Pollux are only a few of several 4000 Alps summits you can climb with us: most of our team of Guides were born and grew up close to these mountains and they have explored the ascent routes several times during different seasons, with skis or crampons!
