Description

There are several different routes you can take to the summit of Ben Nevis (1,345m). On this full-day trip, I would like to guide you along one of the easiest of those routes, the Ledge Route.

The Ledge Route will take you up the peak along its North face. When you reach the summit, you will indulge in truly breathtaking views.

Despite being one of the easier routes to the summit of Ben Nevis, the Ledge Route is long and will take all day. As a result, participants on this trip should be in good physical shape. There are also some sections that require some scrambling. Furthermore, the more difficult areas of the climb can easily be avoided if you wish.

Climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland is an unforgettable experience. Because the peak is the highest in the entire United Kingdom, there are definitely some bragging rights to be gained when reaching the summit. I am a fully qualified Mountaineering Instructor based in Fort William, on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.
I have been guiding in the UK for 10 years and chose the Scottish Highlands due to their remote feel and beauty. Rock climbing, Ice climbing, mixed climbing and more can be done in this area and it is all so accessible.

I contacted Kirkhope mountaineering looking for a guide to take me along a more adventurous route up Ben Nevis. Scott responded to my voicemail very quickly and was able to talk me through the various options and offer guidance on difficulty, exposure etc and on the required equipment. Our mission was to hike up Ben Nevis but not along the main footpath. We hoped for something a bit more challenging. ..and we got it. Uncertain of what we’d be facing, Scott expertly assessed our ability during the first part of the hike and enthusiastically confirmed that we could handle the trip up the back. Knowledgeable about about the area, geology and flora, Scott was an excellent guide and fun to spend the day with.
