Mountain Guide

I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide, ski instructor, and sports teacher.

I believe guides do their best job when they guide in the mountains they are most familiar with. That is one of the biggest reasons why I specialize in guiding in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country around 400 times.

If you want to climb or ski in the Slovenian mountains, I am the right choice. I guide via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, freeride skiing, and ski touring. Most of my summer work involves climbing Triglav, and most of my winter work involves Triglav and ski touring around it.

Slovenia offers good options for all of these activities, so you are welcome to take a look at my trips and find something for yourself. If you don't find anything, let me know, and I will see if I can help you!

I speak English. Ich spreche auch ein bisschen Deutsch. Parlo anche un po' di Italiano e hablo también un poco de Español.

If I am not available to guide you, one of the super experienced guides in my team will be your guide.

I had the pleasure of being guided up Mt Mangart (via Italiana route) by Mitja Sorn in June 2015. Mitja helped me organize two climbs at short notice to fit into my travelling schedule. He was extremely professional and safe on the mountain which gave me confidence and enabled me to enjoy the experience knowing I was in great hands. Along with his professionalism he was also entertaining, happily answering questions and joking the whole day. Since the climb Mitja has been in contact at my request to recommend other climbs which my experience is suitable for and which will also challenge me. I would not hesitate to recommend Mitja to people looking for a mountain guide in the alps and have already recommended him to a few of my friends.

We met in 2010 and since then we are making four or five great tours per year. Mostly in Julian Alps – magnificent mountain ridges and popular climbing routes. Mitja is an excellent climber, fast and reliable, patient with clients, but above all – he enjoys sharing the beauty of mountains with others. Once we’ re seating in restaurant after tour and drinking bear. Looking towards Mount Triglav, Mitja said : ‘Up there is my office ! I’ve the best job in the world!’ I couldn’t agree more ! And now I am making plans for four tours in this year

Joshua

Climbing Mount Triglav was at the very top of my list of things to do in Slovenia and thanks in large part to Mitja the whole experience exceeded my expectations. Not only is he an incredibly experienced and versatile guide (he guides rock climbing, ice climbing and all sorts of other things as well as hikes), he's also really easy to talk to and great fun to hang out with, putting everyone instantly at ease. He was very knowledgeable about the mountain and the area too, telling us about everything from its geology, flora and fauna to how food is brought into the huts and what crazy records have been set by guides and other mountaineers attempting all sorts of feats on its slopes. Best of all was that I really felt his passion for what he does coming through. He clearly loves his job, loves meeting people and loves Slovenia. And he wants to see the outdoor tourism industry develop and thrive here. I'd recommend anyone interested in trekking Triglav give him a call. You couldn't be in better company.

The guide is really professional and friendly but the route "Salaska" has only 4 pitches of real rockclimbing.I would recommend another more technical route with the same guide.
